Who is Miguel Garcia?
Miguel is 17-years-old and born with a rare skin disorder called Epidermolysis Bullosa, (E.B.). He lives with his family in Santa Barbara and likes photography, playing the drums, spending time with friends and writing poetry. Read full Bio.

What is Epidermolysis Bullosa?
E.B. is a genetic skin disease that causes severe blistering and sloughing of the skin from the slightest friction. This occurs both inside and outside of the body. The simplest things, such as swallowing food and wearing certain clothes can be extremely difficult and cause open wounds. To learn more about EB please go to www.ebkids.org.

About the Runner:
Robert Gilcrest is 41-years-old and started running in April 2006 to cope with some major lifestyle changes, quitting smoking and becoming sober. He grew up in Santa Barbara and lives with his wife and two children. He read one of Miguel's poems, "the prisoner" and was inspired. Robert wants to support Miguel in his struggle with E.B., give back to the Santa Barbara community and remind himself and others that what we view as challenges are small in comparison to what others have to face on an every day basis. What Can We Do to Help?
Increase our awareness of E.B. Recognize the effort and pain Miguel and people with E.B. go through. Help raise funds to make Miguel's life easier.
